What 13 year old kid wouldn’t want to go to a World Series baseball game with his dad?
So Donald Trump invited Florida Representative Matt Gaetz to a Nationals World Series game in Washington.
Yup.
Apparently Trump likes Matt more than his son Barron, and because during a House Judiciary Committee hearing on gun violence, Congressman Gaetz wanted two fathers of children who were MASSACRED at Parkland, FL Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School thrown out of the hearing because they loudly called Gaetz a liar. Why were these parents so upset?
Because during Gaetz’s turn to speak he said,
“the greatest driver of violence … was not the firearm, it’s the fact that we have an immigration system that allows people to come here violently.”
WTF The shooter, BTW, was a natural born American citizen.
The hearing was held a year after the shootings and congress has done NOTHING.
Shortly after the MASSACRE, Trump met with some of the surviving students. He had to have a cheat sheet with him to remind himself what to say. Stuff like,
“I hear you.” and “What would you want me to do?”
I kid you not.
What did Trump do? Several days later he met with Wayne LaPierre, Chief Executive and Executive Vice President of the National Rifle Association. The NRA in case you forgot.
After the meeting, HE DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
However, almost two years after the deadliest MASS SHOOTING in American history, the Trump Administration got around to banning bump stocks. A bump stock was the device a shooter used to SLAUGHTER 58 people and wound 500 at an outdoor concert in Las Vegas. The device enables a semi-automatic weapon to fire like a machine gun.
And it took only two years.
Lawsuits seeking to halt the federal ban were filed in several states, including Washington, Ohio, Utah and Michigan. Two days after the ban went into effect SCOTUS refused to block the ban which will allow the challengers to run the case through lower courts.
