“Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy night!”

…is a quote from the 1950 movie All About Eve uttered by Bette Davis. That was 1950, but it could very well be applicable to today’s current situation with Attorney General Jeff Sessions. However…

Let’s put aside all the Russia business and our “beleaguered” AG’s problems with it.

I Think, Therefore You’re Not

Apologies to René Descartes for the aberration of his famous proof of existence “I think, therefore I am.” Descartes was a 17th Century philosopher and mathematician whose writings dealt with reality.

Then there’s comedian Robin Williams who proclaimed, “Reality, what a concept.”

The concept of reality has completely eluded Donald Trump and his cohorts in the White House either by ignorance or malfeasance. I believe the latter because they are basically not stupid. Incompetent maybe, but not stupid.

Demagogue>Autocrat>Fascism

Recently I was called to task to defend a comment I made on Facebook concerning a Fox News video which was shared/posted by a friend.

The video was of the controversial Muslim activist Linda Sarsour who was addressing the annual Islamic Society of North America convention in suburban Chicago, Sarsour urged her fellow Muslims to speak out against oppression. She used the word “Jihad” in reference to the struggle against oppression.

You Cannot Be Serious

Thursday, InfoWars, a website operated by Alex Jones, accused NASA—which is part of the executive branch!—of running a slave colony for kidnapped children on Mars. From the Daily Beast‘s writeup of Jones’ interview with an individual named Robert David Steele:

“We actually believe that there is a colony on Mars that is populated by children who were kidnapped and sent into space on a 20-year ride,” said Steele. “So that once they get to Mars they have no alternative but to be slaves on the Mars colony.”

The Emperor Has No Clothes

Are the Republicans on Capital Hill too hell-bent with their agenda to erase everything Obama that they are so fucking blind they can’t see that Donald J. Trump is patently unfit, incompetent and infantile to occupy the presidency? When are Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell going to get the balls to stand up for the reputation of America and tell Trump to shut the fuck up?

Let Them Eat Cake

In a rare appearance on ABC’s This Week, Kellyanne Conway said taking away Medicaid from able-bodied adults is no big deal because they can go out and find jobs that provide health insurance.

Easy for you to say.

The problem with that is that the majority of able-bodied adults on Medicaid already have jobs. They work in low-paying jobs that typically don’t offer insurance.

According to the Henry J. Kaiser Foundation, among the able-bodied adults that Conway and congressional Republicans have in mind, 79% are in families where somebody works and 59% have jobs themselves.

In a typical out-of-touch-with-reality comment, Conway said,

“If they are able-bodied and they want to work, then they’ll have employer-sponsored benefits like you and I have.”

In other words; “Let them eat cake.”

Under the current proposed bill heading to a vote in the Senate, Federal subsidy payments to Medicaid would fail to keep up with costs thereby forcing states to make cutbacks that would inevitably affect all groups that depend on the program.

Oh, and by the way, there were NO women in the secret meeting to draft this bill.

Here is a list of Senators supporting the current bill.

Liar, Liar Pants On Fire?

There’s a high bar to accusing someone of committing a ‘lie,’ and we don’t do it lightly,”

writes Mary Ann Georgantopolous for BuzzFeed News.

She goes on to say,

A lie isn’t just a false statement. It’s a false statement whose speaker knows it’s false. In these instances, the president — or his administration — have clear reason to know otherwise. Reporters are understandably cautious about using the word — some never do, because it requires speculating on what someone is thinking. The cases we call “lies” are ones where we think it’s fair to make that call: Trump is saying something that contradicts clear and widely published information that we have reason to think he’s seen. This list also includes bullshit: speech that is — in its academic definition — “unconnected to a concern with the truth.”

So when former FBI Director James Comey testified before congress and declared,

Do We Have A Royal Family?

King Donald I, ?

On March 14, 2014, Donald Trump tweeted,

“We pay for Obama’s travels so he can fundraise millions so Democrats can run on lies. Then we pay for his golf.”

This got me thinking, so recently, out of curiosity, I did a little research on the Palace of Versailles. This is what one does when one retires. So what does this have to do with Trump.

Can The Media Keep Up With Trump?

“In his first 100 days in office, Donald Trump has tweeted 500 times.” – The Atlantic

And lately, he has released a firestorm of relentless tweeting, particularly since the recent London attack. His tweets are laced with vitriol. He attacks judges, the judicial system and pretty much anything and anybody who disagrees with him. And he does this as the President of the United States.

But let’s put aside, for now, the debate as to whether Donald Trump should even be using his personal Twitter account at all. .

Later in this discussion will be some quotes and a link to CCN concerning this and the use of “social media.”

But for now:

Trump’s news conference in The White House Rose Garden announcing his withdrawal from the Paris Accord served two purposes:

  • It fulfilled a campaign promise,
  • It took the Russia investigation off the front burner.

It followed the Fox News Network’s editorial policy: Distort And Distract.
