“I Was Told That”

In a piece published by The Washington Post, Tony Schwartz, ghost writer of Trump’s The Art Of The Deal, says,

Early on, I recognized that Trump’s sense of self-worth is forever at risk. When he feels aggrieved, he reacts impulsively and defensively, constructing a self-justifying story that doesn’t depend on facts and always directs the blame to others.

In his first press conference as president, Trump claimed,

“I guess it’s the biggest electoral college win since Ronald Reagan,”

Absolutely false.

Mr Reagan won two terms; he gained 525 electoral college votes in 1984 and 489 the previous election. It was the largest landslide in recent political history, but Mr Trump’s 2016 victory did not come close.

Former President Barack Obama won 332 votes in 2012 versus Mitt Romney’s 206 votes, a far higher number than Mr Trump’s 304 electoral college votes in 2016.

And Mr Obama won an even higher number – 365 – in 2008.

Bill Clinton gained 379 electoral college votes in 1996, and George H W Bush gathered an incredible 426 votes in 1988.

When called out on that, Trump said,

“I don’t know. I was just given that information”

In other words, blame somebody else.

(The Daily News) President Trump on Monday falsely suggested he is one of few commanders-in-chief to call the families of fallen U.S. soldiers, and wrongly singled out his predecessor Barack Obama as a leader who never did so.

“The traditional way, if you look at President Obama and other Presidents, most of them didn’t make calls,” Trump said during a White House Rose Garden press conference with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

“A lot of them didn’t make calls. I like to call when it’s appropriate, when I think I’m able to do it.”

Minutes later, after a reporter challenged Trump’s comments, the President said he wasn’t sure if his allegation about Obama was true.

Then why the hell did you even say that, Donald.

When asked about that statement, Trump added,

“I was told he didn’t often and a lot of Presidents don’t.”

Then why the hell did you even say that, Donald.

A former Obama White House staffer called Trump’s claim,

a fucking lie.”

And by the way, it took Trump 12 days to react to the deaths of the soldiers in Niger. And where was he when the caskets arrived back in the US? GOLFING!!!!

Not very presidential, Donald, but typical. And Obama et al, wouldn’t even be engaged in this debate if Trump would just keep his fucking mouth shut.

This article was corrected. Mistakenly reported Nigeria instead of Niger.
