Should We Believe Everything We See On Facebook?

God no, Absolutely NOT. And if you do, well, that’s a serious problem.
Facebook has long argued that its news feed is a reflection of a user’s wider world. Over the summer, the company changed its news feed algorithm to deliver more posts from friends and family rather than articles. The company said Wednesday it would continue to tweak its news feed algorithm, but declined to address bogus journalism on its platform.

More Smoke And Mirrors From The White House

Once again the White House is using rhetoric, misrepresentations and specious arguments to defend its rescindment of DACA. But then what would you expect.

To quote Fox News’ Shepard Smith,

“Why is it lie after lie after lie?,”

But first this:
It’s ironic that AG Sessions in his announcement to end DACA would say this,

Trump and the KKK

This from The Washington Post dated Feb 29, 2016

Donald Trump’s father Fred was arrested in 1927 at a KKK riot. It’s not clear what his involvement was at the time, but the Daily Star notes that Trump was detained “on a charge of refusing to disperse from a parade when ordered to do so.” The predication for the Klan to march, according to a flier passed around Jamaica beforehand, was that “Native-born Protestant Americans” were being “assaulted by Roman Catholic police of New York City.”

Make America Great Again, But Only For The Few

Donald Trump’s campaign slogan: “Make America great again.” But he only vaguely said how he was going to do it if at all. He generalized his appeals to the average middle class particularly blue-collar workers.

“Jobs, jobs, jobs” –  “America first” – “Drain the swamp” were his battle cries.

Well here is how he’s doing it.

The Call That Never Happened

My post of August 1, 2017 dealt with Donald Trump’s propensity to spew falsehoods via his Twitter account. What prompted that was his tweet,

Donald Trump

Only the Fake News Media and Trump enemies want me to stop using Social Media (110 million people). Only way for me to get the truth out!

Here’s Some Real “Fake News”

Donald Trump

Only the Fake News Media and Trump enemies want me to stop using Social Media (110 million people). Only way for me to get the truth out!

Really? This is laughable.

Donald Trump’s inability to tell the truth is on record. Never in the history of this nation has a president-elect and president uttered the quantity of falsehoods as Donald Trump has.

Roger Goodell, The Verdict Is In

Sports Illustrated July 25, 2017:

  • A new study by Boston University researcher Dr. Ann McKee examined the brains of 202 deceased football players and found that 110 of the 111 brains of former NFL players had chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). The results were published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
  • The brains were donated by families of former NFL players who showed signs of the disease. The study was not conducted on a set of random former NFL players, and Dr. McKee notes “tremendous selection bias” in the samples.

“Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy night!”

…is a quote from the 1950 movie All About Eve uttered by Bette Davis. That was 1950, but it could very well be applicable to today’s current situation with Attorney General Jeff Sessions. However…

Let’s put aside all the Russia business and our “beleaguered” AG’s problems with it.

I Think, Therefore You’re Not

Apologies to René Descartes for the aberration of his famous proof of existence “I think, therefore I am.” Descartes was a 17th Century philosopher and mathematician whose writings dealt with reality.

Then there’s comedian Robin Williams who proclaimed, “Reality, what a concept.”

The concept of reality has completely eluded Donald Trump and his cohorts in the White House either by ignorance or malfeasance. I believe the latter because they are basically not stupid. Incompetent maybe, but not stupid.
