While doing research on Trump’s list of people he pardoned, I came across the name Sholom Rubashkin.
Who is Sholom Rubashkin?
I recognized the name from an episode of American Greed . The episode chronicled how Rubashkin managed and operated Agriprocessors, the largest Kosher meat processing plant in the U.S.
Agriprocessors faced accusations of mistreatment of cattle, pollution, and a series of alleged violations of labor law. In May 2008, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) staged a raid of the plant, and arrested nearly 400 illegal immigrant workers. Agriprocessors plants stopped operating in October 2008, and the firm filed for bankruptcy on November 5 of the same year. Sholom Rubashkin as the highest ranking day-to-day corporate officer was charged with federal financial fraud and sentenced to 27 years in prison in June 2010, and was let free after U.S. President Donald Trump commuted his prison sentence on December 20, 2017. Trump didn’t pardon Rubashkin; he only commuted his sentence. Rubashkin only served eight years of a 27 year sentence.
When the Feds raided Agriprocessors, they arrested 400 illegal immigrant workers!
Think about that.
When the Feds raided Agriprocessors, they arrested 400 illegal immigrant workers!
Many of these illegals were underage. However, Rubashkin, in a separate trial, was acquitted of knowingly hiring these underage workers. But, as one expert put it, if your the CEO of a multi-million dollar enterprise, you had to know what’s going on daily in your company.
So think about that. Trump, who constantly rants about illegal immigration in this country, commuted the sentence of a man whose company employed 400 of them.
By the way, this from The New York Times:
President Trump’s family business has employed undocumented workers more broadly than it was previously believed, with multiple workers losing their jobs last month at a Trump golf club in southern New Jersey.
And he’s complaning?
