You Cannot Be Serious

Thursday, InfoWars, a website operated by Alex Jones, accused NASA—which is part of the executive branch!—of running a slave colony for kidnapped children on Mars. From the Daily Beast‘s writeup of Jones’ interview with an individual named Robert David Steele:

“We actually believe that there is a colony on Mars that is populated by children who were kidnapped and sent into space on a 20-year ride,” said Steele. “So that once they get to Mars they have no alternative but to be slaves on the Mars colony.”

You Cannot Be Serious…

Infowars.com  is a website operated by Alex Jones. The website, InfoWars.com, has been labeled by media outlets as a fake news website.
Jones echoed Steele, saying,
“clearly they don’t want us looking into what is happening” because “every time probes go over they turn them off.”
“Look, I know that 90 percent of the NASA missions are secret and I’ve been told by high level NASA engineers that you have no idea. There is so much stuff going on,” Jones added.

This would be utterly laughable if it weren’t so scary.

FYI, Jones supports Donald Trump and has consistently denounced Hillary Clinton. Jones said that Trump called him on the day after the election to thank him for his help in the campaign.
Why? Because…
President Trump conducted an interview in December 2015 with Alex Jones during which he praised Jones’ reputation as “amazing,” and the two reportedly remain in touch. InfoWars has reported, among other things, that the U.S. government planned 9/11 and that the Sandy Hook massacre was staged.

You Cannot Be Serious…

This bears repeating:
Alex Jones believes that the U.S. government planned 9/11 and that the Sandy Hook massacre was staged, and Trump has praised Jones’ reputation as “amazing.”
Infowars is also reportedly Trump’s source for his tweet:

In addition to winning the Electoral College in a landslide, I won the popular vote if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally

3:30 PM – 27 Nov 2016

Then there’s PizzaGate:
When Edgar Maddison Welch stepped into the Comet Ping Pong pizzeria armed with an AR-15, he told police he was there to rescue children from a child sex ring run by Hillary Clinton and her campaign chief, John Podesta.
Welch admitted that he was reacting to what he read on Infowars.
That particular fake-news conspiracy theory,, was widely promoted by Alex Jones.

You Cannot Be Serious…

What is disturbing about this mutual affection between Trump and Jones is the fact that Trump continually brands Main Stream Media (MSM) as being “fake news.” But yet Trump’s track record on the veracity of his tweets is pathetic.

Recently Fox News Network has jumped all over CNN for its retraction of a story it ran on its website but NOT on its TV network.

CNN issued a retraction late Friday night, saying the story “did not meet CNN’s editorial standards and has been retracted.” By Monday, three journalists involved in the story, the reporter and two editors, had resigned, The Washington Post reported.

CNN stated that the story relied only on one anonymous source. This is not in keeping with their editorial policy. Yet Trump and Fox are using this as proof of “fake news.”

But hey, remember this one from Fox News:

On May 16, a story was posted on the Fox News website on the investigation into the 2016 murder of DNC Staffer Seth Rich. The article was not initially subjected to the high degree of editorial scrutiny we require for all our reporting. Upon appropriate review, the article was found not to meet those standards and has since been removed.

This was in response to Sean Hannity again digging up this thoroughly debunked story on his cable TV program. The conspiracy theorists claim that Rich was the source of the DNC email leaks and because of that, the DNC and/or Clinton had him murdered.

And also not to mention that the Rich family is outraged that this is still ongoing.

I didn’t see the MSM jump all over this one.

So here’s a paradox: If a “fake news” outlet retracts a fake news story, does that make it true?

It’s absolutely ridiculous that Trump can bitch about “fake news” when he spreads more crap than a sewer water treatment plant. Give me a break.

P.S. apologies to John McEnroe for the use of his book title.
