Throw Away Your Smart Phones

For you science deniers who want to believe Donald Trump over Drs. Fauci and Birx et. al., yes, throw away your smart phones, laptops, smart 4K TVs, WiFi modem or satellite dishes. And  that’s just for starters.

But first, let’s talk about medicine.

Thank Drs. Salk and Sabin who independently developed the polio vaccine for the fact that you are able to walk and breathe on your own.

Or Alexander Fleming who discovered penicillin that can rid your body of deadly bacteria.
Or Louis Pasteur who developed pasteurization that removes harmful bacteria from foods so you can eat.
Of course there are many more medical discoveries to numerous to mention, but:
  • organ transplants
  • coronary bypass surgery and reduction of deaths from heart disease
  • lower cancer death rates
  • treatment for diabetes
  • Small Pox vaccine and viral vaccines in general such as the MMR
  • threapeutics for HIV/AIDS
  • treatment for glaucoma and cataracts

With regards to technology:

Thank Nikola Tesla for the electricity in your house and the radio stations that you listen to.
Or thank science fiction author Isaac Asimov for proposing the idea of geostationary satellites for your satellite TV and GPS .
Or thank physicist Niels Bohr who described Quantum Mechanics for the fact your cell phone works.
Or thank George Brayton, Nicolaus Otto, Gottlieb Daimler, Wilhelm Maybach and Karl Benz who developed and patented different types of internal combustion engines that power your automobile.
Or thank Orville and Wilbur Wright – need I explain.
Or thank Matthew Murray and Richard Trevithick who created the first steam powered locomotives that enabled the rapid opening of the American plains and West.
Or thank Michael Faraday for inventing the electric motor – need I explain.
Or thank James Clerk Maxwell who put Faraday’s theories into mathematical formulae to inspire Tesla to invent radio or Albert Einstein to develop his theories of Relativity. BTW, if it weren’t for Einstein’s theories of General and Special Relativity, GPS satellites wouldn’t work due to time and gravitational dilation.
Well you could argue that if not for these doctors, scientists and inventors, somebody else would have come along and did it. Duh! Yeah, eventually. But that’s not the point.
The point is it happened, and your life would still be in the Dark Ages if they didn’t happen at all.
